The application is now in - reference M/OUT/0226/11/P - we have until Thursday 14th April 2011 to Save Grey Towers Farm

The Greater Nunthorpe campaign group is independent of local councils and politicians.

The group is made up of local residents initially brought together by a common cause – the fight to protect Rest Harrow and Red Cottage from developers intent on robbing us of the green spaces, heritage and character of our area.

Since the proposed developments at Rest Harrow and Red Cottage, there have been many more threats nibbling away at our community's character.

We have been actively lobbying our local councils to make residents voices heard and recently we have made a breakthrough - Middlesbrough Council have agreed to put planning resources into developing a Design Statement for Nunthorpe

This will involve local people shaping the way Nunthorpe develops.  Nunthorpe is the first community to develop such a plan - you can read more about what the plan means and how you can get involved here

Greater Nunthorpe works to

  • Inform the Nunthorpe community on issues that affect our local area.
  • Ensure the whole Nunthorpe community has the opportunity to get involved in shaping how Nunthorpe develops through the Nunthorpe Design Statement.
  • Ensure that local voices influence decisions that affect our community, and that these decisions are made in a clear and reasonable way.
  • Try to join up the decisions that affect the whole of Nunthorpe, such as roads and planning, despite the political divide

  • Protect our open green spaces and gardens from garden grabbing developments and sale of our public land.
  • Campaign for safer roads in Nunthorpe.
  • Celebrate and protect our heritage and sense of community.

Our community group will to gather the thoughts of Nunthorpe residents through this website and feed them into the Nunthorpe Design Statement or feed back to our politicians and local councils, so please have your say on the issues that affect our community and register for updates.

Thank you for visiting – let's work together to keep the whole of Nunthorpe great!
